Synopsis:

After the marriage of her old governess, Emma Woodhouse decides she quites like matchmaking and sets about trying to match up her new friend Harriet, to Mr Elton who is the local vicar. Although councilled against meddling by her brother-in-law and good friend Mr Knightley, Emma begins her scheme to match her two acquaintances, completely unware, until she receives his proposal, that it is Emma herself that Mr Elton is interested in, and not Harriet.

Two new arrivals in the neighbourhood, Mr Frank Churchill, the stepson of her recently married governess, and Jane Fairfax the neice of her neighbour gives Emma a new outlook as she tries to fall in love with Mr Churchill herself. But on hearing that Mr Knightley may have taken a fancy for miss Miss Fairfax, Emma slowly begins to realise she wants him for herself.
