Synopsis:

Sisters Lady Bertram and Mrs Norris have another sister who was cast off from the family when she married much beneath her. On learning of her struggles with a brood of children and very little income they decide they shall take little Fanny off her hands, bring her to Mansfield Park and raise her with her cousins. Miss Fanny Price is never treated as an equal, and Mrs Norris makes sure she always knows the debt that she owes to the Bertrams and that she cannot expect to ever have the same opportunities as her cousins.

Only her cousin Edmund is kind to her, and Fanny loves none but him. When the Crawfords arrive things start to go drastically wrong for Fanny. Brother and sister Henry and Mary Crawford are fashionable and flirty, Henry first makes a beeline for Fanny's soon to be married cousin Maria, but when Maria marries he turns his attentions toward Fanny. But it is the growing attachment between Edmund and Mary Crawford that is the real concern of Fanny, who sees through Mary's flirty demeanour and knows she is not suitable for Edmund at all. Will Fanny ever bow to her uncle's wishes and accept Mr Crawford's proposals? Will Edmund ever see that his beloved Mary is not all he believes her to be, and what chance would there be for Edmund and Fanny anyway, the family is sure to object if he ever saw Fanny as marriage material.
